Septemebr 22, 2007 - As you can see from the 3 new pics, Fletcher has completely recovered from mange. He was neutered last week, and is now ready for hsi forever home!

August 6 - Meet Fletcher! Fletcher is a wonderfully affectionate, loving 1 year old male white GSD. He was rescued from a high kill shelter at the last hour. He had absolutely NO chance of being adopted due to his condition

As you can see by his pics, Fletcher is suffering from mange and all the secondary skin infections that come with it. Who knows how long he's been in this condition; he was picked up as a stray and of course his family did not come looking for him. Fletcher has been given a medicated bath (that he thoroughly enjoyed!) and started on medication for the infection and itching. It will take a couple of months to get his condition under control.

Due to his condition, Fletcher has not been introduced to the other dogs in his foster home. He will bein isolation until he is no longer contagious. But from what little we've seen so far, we feel like he will be fine with other dogs.

Fletcher has an appointment tomorrow with our vet to be tested for heartworm disease, and we are hopeful that will notbe added to his list of aillments. Updates will be posted as they are available, as well as new pics as our boy progresses!

Fletcher must go to a home where he will live inside as an important member of the family. We do not adopt to anyone under the age of 21. Our adoption fee is $300, which includes the health certificate fee ($50) for dogs who traveled to their new home and is required by the USDA for all animals crossing state lines. The separate ground transport fee ($125) can be paid directly to P.E.T.S. upon pickup of your dog!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Fletcher, a Brattleboro German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Brattleboro, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Brattleboro.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Brattleboro already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Brattleboro breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Brattleboro paves the way for another one to be saved.
