My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Marty is a 2 to 4 year old Beagle/Basset mix. He's a little low-rider and fully grown at 25 pounds. Marty came to us from a kill shelter where he was dumped with an advanced case of heartworm disease. He has since been treated.

Marty is a sweet boy who's truly deserving of a loving forever home. He's cautious when meeting someone new, but quickly warms up when he feels safe. He does well with kids, cats, and other dogs (with the exception of un-neutered male dogs). Marty is looking for a laid back home with a low activity level. While he is a somewhat active boy, he should not be allowed to play or romp for extended periods of time for a few months (until his treatment has had time to work).

*PLEASE NOTE: If you'd like to meet our dogs, please join us at one of our adoption events and/or submit an adoption application.

LGR is a foster based rescue, which means that our adoptable dogs live in foster homes. Because they live with us, we know the habits, needs, temperament, and level of training of our dogs. To adopt an LGR dog, we ask that you first submit an adoption application (link below). When we receive your application, we will review and respond via email within 7 days. Our adoption process does more than screen applicants; it allows us to work with adopters to properly match our dogs with their forever homes. Each LGR dog is spayed/neutered, vaccinated (rabies, bordatella, DHLPP), heartworm tested (age appropriate), microchipped, and treated with heartworm and flea preventative. To adopt an LGR dog, please submit an adoption application here: http://bit.ly/LGRAdoptionApp. As a foster based rescue, we rely on the generosity of people like you to open your hearts & homes to a dog in need. To become an LGR foster, please submit a foster application here: http://bit.ly/LGRFosterApp
