Marty's Story...
Marty is a 2 to 4 year old Beagle/Basset mix. He's a little low-rider and fully grown at 25 pounds. Marty came to us from a kill shelter where he was dumped with an advanced case of heartworm disease. He has since been treated.

Marty is a sweet boy who's truly deserving of a loving forever home. He's cautious when meeting someone new, but quickly warms up when he feels safe. He does well with kids, cats, and other dogs (with the exception of un-neutered male dogs). Marty is looking for a laid back home with a low activity level. While he is a somewhat active boy, he should not be allowed to play or romp for extended periods of time for a few months (until his treatment has had time to work).

LGR is a foster based rescue, which means that our adoptable dogs live in foster homes. Because they live with us, we know the habits, needs, temperament, and level of training of our dogs. To adopt an LGR dog, we ask that you first submit an adoption application (link below). When we receive your application, we will review and respond via email within 7 days. Our adoption process does more than screen applicants; it allows us to work with adopters to properly match our dogs with their forever homes. Each LGR dog is spayed/neutered, vaccinated (rabies, bordatella, DHLPP), heartworm tested (age appropriate), microchipped, and treated with heartworm and flea preventative. To adopt an LGR dog, please submit an adoption application here: http://bit.ly/LGRAdoptionApp. As a foster based rescue, we rely on the generosity of people like you to open your hearts & homes to a dog in need. Why Adoption is a Great Option

Marty, a Hastings Dachshund/Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund/Labrador Retriever for sale in Hastings, or seeking a Dachshund/Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Hastings.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Hastings already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Hastings breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Dachshund/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Hastings paves the way for another one to be saved.
