Kelsey's Story...
Meet Katie and Kelsey, two of the sweetest rat terriers ever! Katie is the tri-color and weighs 8 ½ pounds. Kelsey is the liver and white, she weighs 10 pounds. Both girls were born March 2007. Katie and Kelsey’s owner passed away recently and they were suddenly left without a home to call their own. Both are very friendly and greet everyone they meet with a tail wag. Katie is a little shy but very much enjoys attention; she loves to curl up beside you. Kelsey is the more independent one of the pair and enjoys playing with toys all the while talking to you about it. They have spent their whole life together and would like to be adopted together. Both Katie and Kelsey have been spayed, brought up to date on vaccinations including Bordatella for kennel cough, tested negative for heartworms and are being kept on monthly heartworm and flea/tick prevention. If you would like to adopt these two sweethearts please visit: www.desphousedogs.com to fill out an adoption application.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Kelsey, a Westport Rat Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Rat Terrier for sale in Westport, or seeking a Rat Terrier dog from a breeder in Westport.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Westport already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Westport breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Rat Terrier breeders who help with Rat Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Westport paves the way for another one to be saved.
