Sammy's Story...
Sam is a handsome, playful, friendly and loving three-year-old, 58-pound, male pit bull terrier-mix looking for a loving guardian.

Sam is living in a foster home where he’s great with all the other dogs. He is full of tail wags and kisses for all the people he meets too! Sam knows the command sit and takes treats very gently from your fingers. He’s playful and happy to entertain himself with Kongs and Nylabones.

He is housebroken, crate-trained and is even good when given a bath. Sam loves his walks, runs, and is good on leash. He also loves to snuggle with his foster mom. He loves his people and enjoys being near them.

This poor boy was found as a stray in Gary, Indiana. He weighed only 38 pounds! Now after gaining 20 pounds and TLC, he’s looking so happy and healthy.

Sam is healthy, de-wormed, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, and heartworm-tested. If you are interested in adopting him, please contact Melia at melia88@comcast.net. His adoption donation of $200 benefits the rescued dogs of Lucky Dog Rescue. He is currently living in a foster home in Rockford, Illinois.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sammy, a Chicago Pit Bull Terrier/American Staffordshire Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pit Bull Terrier/American Staffordshire Terrier for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Pit Bull Terrier/American Staffordshire Terrier dog from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pit Bull Terrier/American Staffordshire Terrier breeders who help with Pit Bull Terrier/American Staffordshire Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
