Andy's Story...
"Andy" is an adventurous sweet kitten and although still very small, he's the biggest in his litter at just over 2 pounds right now. He has medium to long fur and one of the softest coats of any cat we've ever seen! His tabby markings are a creamy orange color with a bright white base. He's very smart and curious and likes to oversee our laundry folding and is the boss when it comes to dinner time. Although he is very independent when he's playing, he really loves his mom and will go and just sit and look at her sometimes.

Andy's story got off to a rough beginning: His mom and siblings were brought into a rural shelter as strays along with her 2 other small kittens. A Friends of Retrievers Rescue volunteer saw them on a trip to pick up a dog for rescue and this little family was listed as "urgent." F.O.R. quickly made the decision to take them into our rescue program to give them a chance. Today they are all healthy and strong, and although still very small, they are for their own homes!

Andy is already neutered (a surgery he took in stride with no complications or downtime afterwards), vaccinated, tested negative for Felv/FIV, and dewormed. In addition, he is microchipped and can be registered to his new family to help keep him safe forever .

Andy's family is in a foster home with young children and another cat that he gets along well with. He is very kid-friendly and will make a wonderful addition to your family!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Andy, a Huntsville Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Huntsville, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Huntsville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Huntsville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Huntsville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Huntsville paves the way for another one to be saved.
