Cookie is about 8 yrs old. She was taken from a hoarding situation in central Florida. You can tell by her teats that she was used primarily for breeding. Cookie is a dachshund mix maybe with border collie. She is heartworm positive and will receive treatment. This girl is very shy and hid in her crate for 2 days. Now she comes out to her name, wags her tail all the time. She prefers to be outdoors, which tells me she was kept outdoors, and has to be coaxed inside the house. Once in she is very quiet and just lays at your feet. She loves to have her belly rubbed. I have seen her dance once or twice around feeding time. She seems to be fairly healthy outside of the heartworm issue. Does not really care about other dogs, nor does she plays with toys. I suspect she did not have much interaction with people except for being bred. We are working on her social skills and will start her in classes later, after she gains some confidence and realizes people are not bad. She loves to sun herself on the back porch, such a gentle and sweet girl. I cannot imagine how someone could mistreat this dog .Cookie will be a great addition to a home where someone wants a companion, she does love to go for walks, is great on a leash. If you are looking for a new friend, this is a girl that does not require a lot of activity, just a soft bed, good food and loving. update 5/28 Cookie is just a sweetheart!! If you just look at her her taill wags! She is actually getting over her shyness, and is now playing with a few of the dogs!! She is going to obedience classes and not hiding behind my legs anymore. She met new people this weekend and actually went up to them and sniffed and licked their hand!! She does love to ride in the car too! Does occasionally play with ball or toy! Cookie does not need to be in a crate anymore, she is a very easy dog to take care of. Her heartworm status has dropped to low, and we are treating her with just the monthly heartworm prevention. She has lost weight, her coat is sleek and shiny and she is just a wonderful loving dog!! Great girl for a quiet couple that wants a calm canine companion,Cookie is the girl for you!! UPDATE 3/9/13 Cookie continues to blossom!! She is now actively playing with the other dogs, and initiates play! she has met several people when they come to the farm to visit other dogs, and has politely taken treats from them and not backed down! She dances all the time for me now, and is just the cutest girlie! Still remains a very good prospect for an older couple, and would require very low maintenance! she loves to snuggle and sleeps on the bed at night! She waits patiently for someone to come along and express interest in her, we have had no inquiries on such an easy cute girl!! Hard to believe that someone would not want this little bundle of love and devotion!!

Rescue Group Info...
We are a small rescue organization located in Southwest Florida. Being small helps us give more one on one attention to individual dogs and their needs. Rescued dogs are kept in our homes and treated as our own. Border Collies are a unique breed. Because they are a highly intelligent breed, they require much of the owner’s attention. The dogs are evaluated, when they come into the rescue, for any temperament and health issues. Then they are given basic obedience, socialization and rehabilitation as it is necessary.
It is our sole purpose to find forever homes for these loving, wonderful dogs that have been discarded through no fault of their own. All adopted dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, micro-chipped, and on flea and tick preventative as well as heartworm preventative.
Since all rescue dogs live in our homes with us or in foster homes, you will need to travel to meet any dog you might want to adopt.
You will need to contact Ewenity Farms BCH to make arrangements to meet the rescue dog.
We require potential adopters to fill out an Adoption Application. When that is approved we can arrange for the prospective adopter to meet the dog they are interested in. We do require an adoption contract to be signed at time of adoption. We conduct home visits. There is an adoption fee that is usually around $250 per dog to cover any expenses we have incurred. We do have dogs located at quaified fosters throughout the state and also out of state.
The adoption fee is also used to purchase food, flea and tick preventative, and heartworm preventative.
