My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Daisy is such a cutie; she has possibly the sweetest eyes in the world, almost impossible to say no to them. You can tell by her appearance that she has been a very well cared for dog and its evident she was well loved in her original home. Daisy is just a little girl weighing under 20 lbs and is approximately 3 - 4 years old.

Here is what her foster family had to say about Daisy:

Daisy is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met; she is 20 pounds of pure love and will make a wonderful companion for some very lucky individual. She has exceptional manners in the house; she is quite, clean and can be left alone for long periods of time without incident. Daisy has been through a lot of change in the last few months and as a result is a little shy in new situations. She needs a calm household that will continue to work on her confidence and in return she will give you an endless amount of love. She has so many hilarious quirks that make us laugh out loud on a daily basis, her favorite thing in the world is to cuddle with you under the covers, she is a master at getting under the covers and once she’s in she quickly finds her favorite place cuddled up at your feet where she will stay for hours if you let her. Every so often you see her nose pop out for a bit of fresh air..Its hysterical never fails to make us laugh!!

Daisy is the biggest cuddle bug in the world! One of the things about her that is most charming is her willingness to cuddle with anyone. She does not appear to have an interest in toys though, people are more her thing.

Daisy has been the perfect house guest. She is very calm in the house and is fully house trained. During the first couple of days we crated her when we were out of the home but lately we have been letting her have free range of the house and there has not been an issue. She likes to spend most of her day looking out our large front window watching the world go by. She is also very quiet in the house. She lets out a couple of quick barks when someone enters the house but she quiets down very quickly.

Daisy likes to take a few minutes to warm up to people but once she does watch out because she has a lot of love to give! She likes to evaluate people from afar before she approaches to give you a sniff, due to this fact I would say a house with older children would be ideal as she is scared of quick movements. She is incredibly gentle with humans so I think she would be wonderful with children as long as they are respectful and introductions are done correctly.

Daisy’s timid nature means she will never attempt to run away and she prefers for her owner to be within eye-shot so I do not see her wandering as ever being a problem. Daisy loves the car. When we picked her up she was very anxious but 5 minutes into our car ride home she was fast asleep. She is incredibly calm in the car she likes to look out the window but never makes a sound, and she would prefer to do so from your lap if she is given the choice.

Daisy is fully house trained. Even during the adjustment period there were no accidents. Daisy is fully crate trained and she goes into her crate every evening without protest. She is in her crate from 11-6:30 every night and there has never been a problem. However, Daisy would prefer to sleep with her owner at night, she makes this very clear every evening when I tell her it’s time for bed and she runs to my room, jumps on my bed and rolls onto her back..it’s hilarious. Ideally she would like to sleep in your bed under the covers at your feet, I have no idea how she breaths down there but it is definitely where she is happiest.

If Daisy had her way she would never be separated from her owner. She is however left home alone during the day and there has never been an issue. She did cry quite a bit the first couple days but when this behavior was ignored it stopped. Her anxiety is very understandable as she has been through a lot of change, now that she is feeling safe within our home the crying has ceased.

We’ve been working on basic commands with Daisy and she is coming along very well. Daisy definitely doesn't require obedience classes as she is such a well mannered dog within the home that being said I think obedience classes would benefit her greatly, especially as an opportunity for her to learn how to properly interact with other dogs. (When she was first in our care she had no issues with other dogs but when she was adopted it appears that something happened and Daisy suddenly became afraid of dogs on her walks, although she was fine with the other dog in the house. Her new foster parents have been working on it and have been happy to report that Daisy walked by two anger Beagles the other day who were causing a major ado and she totally ignored them - woohoo! Hopefully she is getting back to her old self but we would assume that any new owner will need to ensure they are calm and confident on walks.) I would say Daisy is low energy but don’t get me wrong she LOVES her walks. She literally jumps for joy when she sees her leash come out but a couple of 15 minute walks per day is sufficient.

Daisy has been an absolute joy to foster and I am amazed every day by how much love she has to give. Given a calm home where she can gain back her confidence I think she will continue to exceed expectations.

If you have room in your heart and your home for this little cuddle-bug, please submit an application for consideration.
