Shadow's Story...
Hi, my name is Shadow! I'm a 4 year old male Shihtzu/Lhasa Apso mix, . For now, what you might want to know about me is that I'm 16 pounds of pure love. I'm the perfect apartment dog, but I'd be thrilled with a house and yard too. I'm not barky or yappy at all,

I wag my tail constantly and I love being petted and snuggled once I know you as I can be a little hand shy at first

I'm house trained and. I'm totally OK with being gated in an area without complaining. And guess what? I don't shed!

I'm a mellow dog for a Lhasa mix (must be the shihtzu part in me) I tend not to be very "busy," just content to hang out with you and chew on a bone. I don't chew anything that doesn't belong to me. I like to nap a lot in a comfy bed. I love chewies. When I see you with a bag of treats in your hand, I know that I must sit before I get one. I'm a very polite doggie. I don't jump on anyone when they come in the door, either.

I am living with cats and take absolutely no notice of them. If you have cats,

I walk like a perfect gentleman on the leash and don't pull at all. I enjoy meeting other dogs, but I don't get overly excited and I am living with two in foster home.

. I'm friendly to strangers once I have sniffed them, even kids, but I'm not sure I would like small kids to manhandle me. I'm neutered and I have all of my vaccines.

I would do best in a home or with someone who has had dogs before. I'm a Lhasa mix, and we have the particular ways. If you're a beginner to dogs, I would love you to pieces, but you will have to read up on my breed to understand me and have the patience to learn what I'm all about. My foster mom can tell you more about me.

Won't you consider meeting me and being my best friend?

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Shadow, a New York Shih Tzu/Lhasa Apso dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu/Lhasa Apso for sale in New York, or seeking a Shih Tzu/Lhasa Apso dog from a breeder in New York.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in New York already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a New York breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu/Lhasa Apso breeders who help with Shih Tzu/Lhasa Apso rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in New York paves the way for another one to be saved.
