My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ASHER HAS BEEN ADOPTED!Asher is an adorable, sweet and very gentle Lab mix in need of a family. Asher was rescued from a pound in southern IL with his 5 siblings and his mother when he was just 10 weeks old. Hos mother was a purebred Chocolate Lab, father was unknown. He's about 6-7 months old now and weighs about 45-50 pounds. After having Asher in a foster home for a few days, we notice something was not quite right...When he walks he has a slight limp, however if he runs or wants to move faster than a walk, he uses both front legs at the same time, so it almost looks like he's hopping like a bunny. We took him into our vet right away and they were a litte stumped..X-rays and a full exam and blood panel revealed there was nothing structurally wrong with his legs, nor was he at all painful. A simple test they did with his paws revealed that the problem may be some neurological damage that could have been caused by trauma or a virus. His videos, x-rays and exam reports were sent to multiple vets and specialists for their opinions and they all agrees with our vets conclusion that it was either caused by some sort of trauma as a puppy or a virus. The only definitive way to diagnose the virus however would have been a spinal tap our vet recommended that we just treat for the virus just as a precaution. He was on two different anti-biotics for 4 weeks. He's been through with the medications for almost two months and has been cleared by the vet for adoption. He has not improved nor declined, and the vet's feeling is that he is just always going to have an odd gait, but should live an otherwise normal and healthy life.
Asher is a very gentle and affectionate dog. He loves other dogs and is a great companion. He flies around the yard and can keep up with the best of 'em! He has no trouble with stairs either. He does tire out a little quicker than other dogs, but it's just because it takes him a bit more energy to move around than the average dog.
Asher is an amazing boy that will make an excellent companion for one lucky family, come and meet him today!
