Fred's Story...
Moderate Energy, Good with Other Animals, No Small Children
Hi! I am Fred! I am a 12 year old, 10 pound male Chihuahua mix. I was found as a stray in Los Angeles CA and ended up in a shelter there. One of the shelter volunteers knew that ASPTL would take in senior dogs, such as myself, and sent them an email begging them to help get me out of the shelter because I had been there so long and they worried my time was up. So a lot of nice people drove me from California to Colorado so I could find a furever home. I am a very peppy senior; I enjoy taking short walks every day and playing a bit with other dogs. But at heart I am a master snuggler! My dream adopters would be looking for a companion dog that they could take on short daily walks. I get along well with other animals, but I would not mind being an only pet getting all the attention! My adoption fee is $75 and includes a dental, current blood work, current vaccinations, microchipping, and my neuter. Please visit www.softplacetoland.org to fill out our online application.

About Our Rescue Group...
A Soft Place To Land, Inc. was founded in 2010 by two dog lovers and best friends. We are a small foster home-based rescue, so we do not have a shelter facility. As former breeders of English Springer Spaniels, we realized there were too many dogs out there without homes - why breed more dogs?! So we decided to rescue retired breeders so they would not be euthanized. Our hope is that eventually, through awareness of the plight of puppy mill dogs, more people will choose to adopt a pet instead of purchasing a pet through a pet store - making puppy mills a thing of the past!
Donate to Our Rescue Group...
We have a "donate" button on our web site. We also have a wish list on Amazon.com. We always need cleaning items, old bedding, old towels, dog beds, gas cards, and just about anything else you can think of!
Come Meet Our Pets...
We are having a meet and greets at the following locations
Our Adoption Process...
www.softplacetoland.org.
Step 1: Fill out an adoption application.
Step 2: Someone from A Soft Place To Land will contact you to set up a home visit and interview. After the home visit applicants and the rescue can take up to 24 hours to decide if the dog is the right fit.
Step 3: When approved, sign adoption contract and pay adoption fees.

Adoption fees are roughly as follows:
Dogs under 6 months of age - $350
Dog from 6 months to 8 years - $225 - $300
Dogs over 8 years - $100 - $225

We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
We prefer to adopt in the state of Colorado as our resources are limited and generally we are not able to perform home visits further away than 6 hours. The dogs we rescue are primarily retired commercial breeding dogs and we like to make sure the dog will be comfortable in your home before we complete the adoption. If the adopter lives further away, it is difficult to know how the dogs will react to the new environment. If there is a problem, we require that the dog be returned to the rescue to re-home and the distance to transport could be an issue. However, if you are willing to come meet the dog and are willing to send us pictures of your home, we will consider it. (In state applicants would be considered first if multiple applications were received on the same dog.)
