Freddie's Story...
Meet Freddie. He is a very lucky boy. He was tossed out on a strip mine in SE KY to fend for himself or become coyote food. Luckily for him, a hunter came by and scooped him up and brought him straight to us. Freddie is a very calm, unassuming little doxie mix. He is approximately 2 years old and weighs about 10lbs. He has short little legs, the face and color pattern of a dachshund but not the attitude LOL. He gets along great with dogs of all sizes and ignores both cats and kittens. He does not hike his leg or attempt to mark on furniture. He is doing great with going potty outside but will need someone to be consistent with that. He would make an ideal pet for someone looking for a quiet, calm little lap dog.

Freddie will be neutered, up to date on vaccinations, given a fecal exam and dewormer (if needed), heartworm tested, and given flea preventative prior to adoption.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Freddie, a Hazard Dachshund/Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund/Chihuahua for sale in Hazard, or seeking a Dachshund/Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Hazard.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Hazard already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Hazard breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund/Chihuahua breeders who help with Dachshund/Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Hazard paves the way for another one to be saved.
