Ben's Story...
Ben is a big sweetheart who is able to win over hearts with his fabulous smile and his charming personality! He was found under a house in East Nashville and his finders almost thought he had given up hope. They took him in and nursed him back to health. After falling in love with him, they decided that it simply wasn't practical to keep him, so they surrendered him to East CAN and he has been doing fabulously with his foster family. His favorite thing to do is to hang out on the couch and chill with his foster sisters. He's a big guy, weighing in at 70 lbs, but he's amazingly gentle and laid back. We think he's about 3 years old, and he's house and crate trained. He loves regular walks and is doing wonderfully with leash manners. He's well behaved and knows basic commands (including some hand signals). He has somewhat limited use of one of his back legs due to a prior surgery and the vet recommends against running or other jarring exercises, so his adopter will need to commit to walking him regularly and hopefully taking him swimming to make sure that he maintains full mobility. His use of the leg has improved greatly since foster mom has been walking him regularly and doing range-of-motion exercises with him. He does well with other dogs when properly introduced (not sure about cats), and he would likely do well in a home with older children. He's currently being vetted and is undergoing treatment for heartworms. Whoever adopts this big lug will be very very lucky! Please contact us to learn more or to meet Ben.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ben, a Nashville American Staffordshire Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Staffordshire Terrier for sale in Nashville, or seeking a American Staffordshire Terrier dog from a breeder in Nashville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Nashville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Nashville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Staffordshire Terrier breeders who help with American Staffordshire Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Nashville paves the way for another one to be saved.
