Name: Cooper
Age: approximately 7 years old
Sex: male
Neutered?: yes
Microchipped?: yes (information can be changed online for new owner)
Housebroken?: yes
Kennel trained?: yes
Knows commands?: sit, shake, stay, come here, lay down, get down, go to bed, go potty, no kitchen, no bark
Favorite Treat: cheese
Good with other dogs?: yes
Good with cats?: not really known (an old roommate had a kitten that Cooper didn't mind one bit, and I also fostered an adult cat one time that was raised around dogs so there was no issue)
Disposition: timid at first, unsure of newcomers, eventually warms up to everyone, loves to sit on your lap and snuggle under blankets, good with kids who are calm and gentle with him, loves hanging out with other dogs (has lived with everything in size ranging from Chihuahua to German Shepherd), it takes him a little longer to approach male humans than females
Likes: having his chest rubbed, going on walks, roaming the yard, basking in the sun on a warm day, playing with cat toys, going for rides in the car, taking naps
Dislikes: loudness, loud children or adults, dogs that constantly bother him (excessive sniffing, invading his personal space)
UTD on shots?: yes, including rabies
Heartworm negative? yes
Heartworm preventative? Heartguard
How he's lived: for first year he lived happily in parents house with me and a large yard, two Chiweenies and one small Pit mix.
Best home for him: I can really see him thriving in a home with a single or young retired couple, someone who can take things slow with him and allow him to come out of his shell and be a happy dog. A yard would be good for him to explore in but he would also be fine in an apartment and no yard of his own. Kids would be ok but probably not ideal unless over 12 yrs and calm -- he prefers the quiet of adults, and he deserves to live a nice "retired doggie lifestyle". He will follow his owner around the house lovingly. You can leave him in his crate while you're gone from the home and not worry about him. He will sleep in his crate but really prefers to sleep in the bed with his owner, snuggled up close for warmth! He should go to a true dog lover that would nurture his shyer personality and bond closely with him. He's as loyal as they come.
