My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

IDGSR WELCOMES STAR INTO THE SAFETY OF THE RESCUE!

Star is such a patient and sweet and loving girl.
We believe that Star is a purebred German Shepherd, Sable in color however we think she may be 'American' GS lines, as she has the slanted back hips. This is acceptable breeding here in the US and for the AKC however we totally disagree with this line of breeding.
Either way Star is who she is, she is a 'soft ear' GS meaning her ears did not go erect as most other GS do. This can happen in dogs who've not been given proper nutrition, protein and fat are vital for a growing pup. Genetics can play a role as well.
We think Star is so worth it and it breaks our hearts to see these highly adoptable and wonderful dogs destroyed.
Star is looking for her furever family and while she may not be a dog who is 'show quality' she has shown us she has a heart of gold.
Star has so much to give and your family will be blessed by this girl.

UPDATE: Star is no longer on medical hold. She has gained weight and strength and is up to 60 lbs! She still needs to gain 15-20 lbs to be at full weight, but is doing well. She is living in a foster home with two small children and is very gentle with them.

This precious child Star is now safe with this rescue and in a loving foster home where she is protected and being cared for the first time in her short life. Star is approx. 1 yr. old, her previous owners cared so little for her that they did not even see fit to feed her regular and healthy meals thru out her formative months. Star was in an extremely emaciated state when an independent rescuer was able to convince the owners to let her have Star. Star was tied out to a tree with no shelter and was only give a small amount of food or water when the people felt like it. Star was 30+lbs. underweight at least and for a pup that was critical.

You will not find a sweeter more gentle dog than Star. Despite the unkindness and lack of love Star is a girl with a beautiful heart and soul. All Star wishes for is for a family who will care. One who will tell her how much they love her and give her a real home. To say that Star loves people would be an understatement. She loves other dogs as well.
She is a beautiful sable female and when she has regained her weight should be in the 75lb. range.

If you would like to make Star a part of your family. please apply with the rescue.
