My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Siri : 1-2 year old female spotted Snow Bengal

December 7th update: What a nice girl this is.! She has settled in quickly. As the new photos show she is very affectionate and loves head bumps which I like to call "a meeting of the minds". She is also now eating very well and enjoys wet canned food as well as dry food so she has no eating issues. In sunlight her fur shines and glistens. These photo's were not taken in the right light to show how gorgeous she is. More soon - if I still have her.

I don't have much in the way of photo's of this girl yet but I look forward to the fun of capturing her beauty on film. ( I am showing my age-- there is no film anymore.) This photo was taken the day she arrived from the shelter. She is a little girl about 8 pounds. She did poorly at the shelter as bengals tend to do. It doesn't suit them to be there and they seldom are happy about it. The shelter emailed "We have another grumpy bengal here. Interested??

I found her to be shy and unhappy." Hey, I am miserable and not at all pleased with anything. " She also wasn't pleased with the food we gave her and would not eat.
I emailed the shelter ( this is such a nice, helpful shelter ) "Did she eat for you and if so what???" They said" Yes she ate some wet Science Diet and a she liked being scritched under her chin."

Didn't work for us. Worried, days passing we finally fed her with a syringe full of wet food . She was nice about it the first time and less so after that. NO.more ! What to do. I went to Costco and bought some organic raw hamburger because many bengals are fed raw diets. Maybe she had been. I petted her under her chin and around her head. After 5 minutes of that she indicated she liked that and decided to come out of her box and be sociable. She rubbed my hand with her head and bumped heads with me." Hey look! Raw hamburger" I said. She ate it all. Not one little piece at a time but quickly with large mouthfuls like a real carnivore does. "OK " I said "We are in business."

She weighs almost 8 pounds and will probably weigh 9 when she is in full form. She is solid but seems like a little thing, smaller than I have seen in a bengal. Could she still be a kitten growing.? We know nothing about her except she is beautiful and now that she is feeling better she is friendly and ready to explore everywhere. She will be fine. The photo makes her coat look light brown - it is really more silver. She has lovely green eyes. I will have more photo's soon.

She is an elegant girl. WIsh we could know her history. She was brought in stray "Over the Counter" I would guess it was her owner/ breeder dropping her off. Lowering their numbers. That happens often especially at that shelter. The shelter spayed her.

So we are lucky to have her. Siri needs a little time to settle in and relax so she can show her personality. She is feeling better. She shows no fear of other cats so I think she is cat friendly.

She eats raw hamburger and Meow MIx ( I kid you not ) so far and is litterbox perfect. I am going to try her on Instinct raw meat medallions and see if that works for her.

Her foster mom is Harriet in santa Cruz.
