Jake has a mind of his own and likes to be the center of attention. He needs someone who can give him consistent leadership and not baby him so that he continues to be an obedient and loving companion. He is very well behaved in the home and can be left for a normal working day with no issues. He is house trained but needs to be put out regularly. In his foster home he has continued to use pee pads for night time or when his foster is gone for long periods of time. Jake is fairly active indoors and while he would likely be fine in an apartment, he really enjoys having a yard to romp around in. As well, he does have a tendency to bark at strange noises so would probably do best in a house.
Jake is fine with respectful children but prefers the company of his person and while grandchildren and the like would be fine, he would do best in an adult only home. He does not like to share his toys with people he doesn't know and does not like games of tug of war and the like but does like a good game of fetch.
Jake has a real personality and is looking for that special person he can devote his life too. He does best when he is in a home that is fairly quiet and calm and where he knows what is expected of him. With the right person he can be a most loving and devoted pet. Given time to become familiar with strangers he is very happy and affectionately greets friends when they come to visit. He makes friends instantly with other dogs and doesn't mind sharing the home with cats.
