Henry & Helen's Story...
Meet Henry and Helen. From their foster mom: They are what is known as a "designer" breed and unfortunately they ended up like too many of them do. They are a boxer/boston terrier mix and are about 7-8 months old. They look just like boxers in the face and have long boxer legs but are boston terrier size. They were recently found outside of my work and appeared to have been dumped. They were literally skeletons and starving to death and covered in fleas. The good news is they aren't starving anymore! These are VERY bonded and cannot be separated they are the best of friends. They are very friendly and love people and warm up to other dogs quickly. About Our Rescue Group...
We rescue in a low income area of Houston called the 5th Ward. We founded Forgotten Dogs of the 5th Ward Project about a year ago to address what we saw as an obvious need to help the many stray dogs we were seeing in there. We set up feeding stations and network and pull as many as we can when a foster home or no-kill rescue group says they can take them in. One of our goals is education and we provide residents with vouchers that cover the complete cost of having their animals altered and vaccinated against rabies. In addition, we provide other vaccinations and worming in the field free of charge. Since November 2011 we have grown in size and have rescued over 250 dogs and a few cats from the area. We are launching a program called Habitat for Hounds through which we will donate doghouses and blankets to residents for their dogs that are kept outside. Our Adoption Process...
Our adoption fee ranges from $100 to $150. We have an online application and a contract and all dogs/puppies are either spayed/neutered prior to adoption if old enough or arrangements are made to have them spayed/neutered afterwards.
