Baby's Info...
| Breed: | American Pit Bull Terrier Mix | Color: | Black - With White | Age: | Adult |
| Size: | Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg) | Sex: | Female |
Baby is a loving, gentle and calm girl who gets along well with other dogs, cats, children and strangers. She spends most of her time quietly lounging in the house but loves human attention and can likely be found close by her family. She walks wonderfully on a leash and is house trained. She has only barked once since she has been with us. She does not jump and has not demonstrated any food aggression. Due to her calm persona, she would do equally well in an apartment/condo as a home with a yard.
She has been very gentle with children and older adults, making her equally well suited for a growing family or a companion for someone older. She is thought to be might be around 3-4 years old. Her teeth look young but her body looks older. That is probably due to her being a stray. She is light heartworm positive but that can be treated. If you are interested in her please go to our website at www.forgottendogs.org and fill out an adoption application. Be sure to specify that you are looking for Baby!!! Thanks!
Rescue Group Info...
We rescue in a low income area of Houston called the 5th Ward. We founded Forgotten Dogs of the 5th Ward Project about a year ago to address what we saw as an obvious need to help the many stray dogs we were seeing in there. We set up feeding stations and network and pull as many as we can when a foster home or no-kill rescue group says they can take them in. One of our goals is education and we provide residents with vouchers that cover the complete cost of having their animals altered and vaccinated against rabies. In addition, we provide other vaccinations and worming in the field free of charge. Since November 2011 we have grown in size and have rescued over 250 dogs and a few cats from the area. We are launching a program called Habitat for Hounds through which we will donate doghouses and blankets to residents for their dogs that are kept outside. Our website is forgottendogs.org and we are a 501c3.
We do not have a regular adoption site at this time, but stay tuned to our facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/ForgottenDogs5) for our upcoming events!
Our adoption fee ranges from $100 to $150. We have an online application and a contract and all dogs/puppies are either spayed/neutered prior to adoption if old enough or arrangements are made to have them spayed/neutered afterwards.
