Happy's Story...
November 23, 2012: Happy came to BDRA from a shelter in South Carolina, and he really lives up to his name! He is a sweet and very handsome 6-month-old baby!! He is playful and loves toys, and really enjoys his walks. He also loves the park, and is learning how to follow a ball! Happy responds when you call him and is obedient, but can be dominating with the other dog in the house by pushing him or softly biting him, so we are working on that. He is not yet house-trained, but is learning. If taken out every two or three hours he does well. Happy tries to do the right thing and looks to us for reinforcements. Happy will be neutered prior to placement. If you want to share your life with Happy, please fill out an adoption application for this special boy!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Happy, a Philadelphia Retriever (Unknown Type)/Hound (Unknown Type) puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Retriever (Unknown Type)/Hound (Unknown Type) for sale in Philadelphia, or seeking a Retriever (Unknown Type)/Hound (Unknown Type) puppy from a breeder in Philadelphia.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Philadelphia already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Philadelphia breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Retriever (Unknown Type)/Hound (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Retriever (Unknown Type)/Hound (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Philadelphia paves the way for another one to be saved.
