Sunshine is a 3 year old, 70 pound read her story starting at birth

She was first-born of her momma’s first litter.

Momma didn’t know what she was doing, plus the vet thinks the umbilical cord was wrapped around her hind leg, and momma accidently chewed the toes. The bones were still there, sticking through the skin. The breeder that the puppies belonged to didn’t expect her to live so sent her off to die. She was taken to a vet where at the age of 5 days old she had surgery to amputate the toe bones.

She was removed from her mother at 3 weeks old because the mother and another puppy were taken back to the breeders and it wasn’t certain that the breeder would take proper care of her. She ended up with the prev. owner for her first 1.5 years than given away to not the best home her story will be told to the right superloving forever mom

Sunshine is a sweet and loving dog. She is also very smart and learns quickly. She was raised with 2 Pomeranians and a cat. She tries to be careful when playing with small dogs but tends to get a little rough at times so it’s up to you the new owner to watch out and teach her not too or no small dogs at home.

She is fine with the cat she was raised with, but when she sees cats outside she barks at them and tries to chase them because they run it’s normal.

With the correct introduction I believe she would be fine with other cats. When introduced correctly to strange dogs, she is fine with them. She was attacked at the dog park and bitten in the face. She had to have small staples put in the bite wound. Since then she is wary of dogs that rush up to her.

She is very vocal when playing. It can be mistaken as aggression but it isn’t. She is just very noisy as some dogs can be

Sunshine has not had much experience with children so an occational visit from well behaved kids will be just fine versus living with some

Sunshine was crate trained as a pup, then after she got older and could be trusted she was allowed to sleep in the bedroom, which was her favorite room with first owner.

She likes to sleep right beside the bed. During the day/evening she has been known to pull the covers partway off the bed and crawl under them.

She is fed twice a day at the same times, she knows when it is dinner time, will come up and stare at you, waiting for dinner. She was trained to sit/stay when her dish is being put down and stay until she is told she can eat.

Her weight needs to be monitored so she is not carrying too much extra weight for her back legs.

She likes to chew so she needs to have plenty of chew toys/bones around.

When she was teething as a puppy we gave her ice cubes to chew on and she still likes them as a treat.

Her disability does not stop her from doing much. She can run, just not very fast. She can jump up onto the seat of a regular sized car. She can get up on a couch and bed when she wants to. If she is real tired from playing for a while she needs help getting into a car. She can go for short walks but she is not used to very long walks with her leg.

In the evenings she is used to mainly just laying around.

She does love to go for rides in the car and going to Petco or Petsmart. She is NOT used to a busy household so will only go to a quiet and calm home without tons of daily visitors

When someone does come over, especially a stranger she will bark at them doing her GS protective job, until she is told to stop. When someone comes over that she knows and really likes she does get excited and runs around and tries to jump on them. She does know the command sit and down. She still needs work on stay. She used to high fives’ with her left front leg and ‘shake’ with her right.

We're only looking for breed experienced families that have another dog she prefers smaller but not tiny as she likes to romp and play, or a single woman that is home a lot that needs a furry sweet love as a companion

She has been raised with small dogs, looking for someone that has time, lots of love and ready for a buddy for life, stable home owners

This is a companion dog that will need to become part of daily life, indoor with playtime outside and potty only not a outside dog If kids at home looking for respectful kids over 12 years that are calm and quiet
