Angela's Story...
Angela is a wonderful little shih tzu girl who weighs 8.9 pounds. The vet estimates that she is 2 years old. She was a stray, so we don’t know anything at all about her background, but we do know she is very playful and a super snuggler. She wants to spend as much time in your lap as possible. Angela has been spayed, brought up to date on her immunizations, tested negative for heartworms and started on preventative. She is ready to celebrate the holidays in a home of her own. Because all her hair had to be shaved off to get rid of the mats, she’s not much to look at right now, but that beautiful cream-colored hair will grow back before you know it. She’ll just need a sweater to keep her warm during the cold winter months. Angela will not be placed in a home with a dog weighing more than 20 pounds or with children under the age of 12. Her adoption donation is $200, and she is being fostered in Birmingham, Alabama. We do approve out of state adoptions, but the adopter must be willing to drive to the foster home to “fetch” the new family member. We do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting this sweet baby, the first step is to submit an APPLICATION.

We do not place any dog in a home with "invisible" or underground fencing.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Angela, a Birmingham Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Birmingham, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Birmingham.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Birmingham already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Birmingham breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Birmingham paves the way for another one to be saved.
