Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Read more about me here: http://www.mwcr.org/2012/belle.htm
In French, belle means beautiful, and our Belle couldn't be more aptly named, since she is beautiful both inside and out. She came to MWCR from a shelter where a Good Samaritan brought her after she and another dog were “dumped” by their owner. We can't imagine why anyone would treat this sweet girl so badly.
Belle has been well behaved at her foster home and can be given the run of the house when her foster parents go out. She is crated at night and when her family is gone for extended periods, and she is very willing to go into her crate. She is house trained and knows the basic commands of “come,” “wait,” “sit” and “stay.” She has learned to sit politely and wait for her dinner until she is given the “okay” signal. Belle is an easy going girl who is calm during grooming, rides well in the car and walks nicely on her leash. She is fairly quiet for a collie, though she does bark at wildlife and when she wants to signal her foster mom that she is ready to come inside.
Belle has been exposed to children age 10 and older and is very friendly with them. We believe that she would also be good with younger children, since she is such laid back, gentle girl. She was initially a bit reactive to the resident dogs at her foster home, but has settled down nicely and is now learning how to play with them. She wants to chase the family's shy cat, though she is not aggressive with the kitty and would probably be fine with a bolder, more dog savvy cat that would stand its ground.
Belle is a fun-loving, affectionate girl who likes to “help” her foster mom make the bed by jumping up on it and rolling around to smooth out all of the wrinkles. She is generally quite calm and laid back, but now and then she will grab one of her toys and romp around with it like a young pup. She is a happy, well behaved and loving girl.
Belle is quite adaptable and will thrive in almost any environment. She could live happily with other dogs, dog-savvy cats and/or children. Alternatively, she would also do well as an only pet with an adult individual or couple. Her foster home does not have a fenced yard and Belle is fine on a tie-out. Her only requirement is that she find a forever home that will love her for her for the beautiful girl that she is.
