My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED BIO 01/28/2013: Elsie is a sweet 10 year old 8 lb little princess who somehow found herself in a high-kill shelter for the holidays. Elsie is being fostered in Largo, FL.

Elsie is extremely sweet and she is a very quiet dog. She has barked one single time and that was to let a sassy little kitten know she was not a chew toy! She gets along great with other dogs and with cats at well. She is submissive and it looks like she might not have always been treated so nicely in her former life. But, she is also loving and isn't frightened of things - just maybe a bit wary.

She had a dental and lost a couple of teeth, but otherwise has most of her teeth. Her tongue does stick out of the front of her mouth sometimes - too cute! After being in her foster home for a while, it appears that Elsie is deaf or hard-of-hearing, but this doesn't stop her from letting you know what she wants. She does respond to hand signals and looks at her human for cues. She is house-trained, and knows to go out to potty, but has had a couple of accidents at night.

Elsie would make a great companion for a quiet household or for a senior looking for some quiet company. Could she be your perfect little four-legged companion?

Update 1/5/2013: Meet Elsie! Elsie is the newest lady on the block. She's a sweet 10 year old 8 lb little princess who somehow found herself in a high kill shelter for the holidays. Elsie is being fostered in West Palm Beach, FL.

She does have some issues associated with old age - she is getting daily drops in her eyes due to dry eye and it appears that she is deaf. However she does respond to hand signals and looks at her human for cues. She is house trained, and knows to go out to potty, but has had a couple of accidents at night.

INITIAL BIO 11/25/2012: Meet Elsie! Elsie is the newest lady on the block. She's a sweet 10 year old 8 lb little princess who somehow found herself in a high kill shelter for the holidays. Elsie is being fostered in West Palm Beach, FL.
We aren't sure why this little girl wasn't picked up by her owners, as she had a microchip. Instead, she was left there for 7 long days until Elsie's FM sprung her free. She was so excited to be out of there. Since this particular shelter doesn't have the staff to walk the dogs, they only leave their cages twice a day to be tied to a post where most housetrained dogs can finally relieve themselves. Elsie pottied immediately when she got outside of the shelter and has not had a single accident in her foster home so far. She jumped in the car as if to say, "OK, step on it! Get me outta here!" .
Elsie is older but is an active little girl. She loves walks. We are going to clean her teeth. Then she is good to go!!
