My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Here is Joey's story as told by his rescuer: " Hello Everyone,
I am asking for anybodies help! On my way home from El Paso, TX on Thursday night I stopped in Lordsburg, NM and checked into a hotel. On my way to dinner I saw a dog wandering the street walking up to cars with his tail wagging trying to get anyone's attention. He got mine! He is skin and bones, has cuts and puncture wounds on his nose, but was still in a good mood! I got him into my car, went to the local grocery store and bought a food bowl, food and water and gave him some. He ate it and settled down in my backseat. Lordsburg , NM is a very small town. I had no idea where to go, so I went to the Port of Entry station along the freeway. They told me where the sheriffs office is. I went there and they were closed up for the night. I told the staff at Comfort Suites my dilemma and they let me keep the dog in my room for the night. The dog did wonderfully! When I finally climbed in to bed he jumped up and rolled onto his back right beside me and didn't move the entire night until 5:30 am when he nudged me with his nose. I took outside to do his business.
I went to the sheriffs office on Friday morning and asked where the local shelter or veterinarians office was. He said there wasn't one! He called the dog catcher who looked at the dog and didn't recognize him. He said he would take him. I asked him to verify that the dog was indeed a pitbull. He said "yes." I asked him if he would be put down and he said "yes." So I brought him home with me to hopefully give him a better chance at survival. When I got home, I asked everyone I knew if they or anyone else was interested in a sweet pitbull. No luck! I checked all of the local no-kill animal shelters and no luck! I could not keep him at my house for the night as I have cats. My neighbor came to the rescue and took him for the night. She has 2 children ages 8 and 10 and 2 Chihuahuas . The dog got along great with the kids! My neighbor carefully introduced her 2 Chihuahuas to the Joey and they ended up playing for hours!

PLEASE help this sweet guy. He deserves a second chance!"
