Mavis's Story...
Mavis is a female yellow lab mix that we took in from a rural area south of Austin. We estimate that she is just a little over 2 years of age and weighs about 45 pounds. She has a nice pleasant personality. She can have an occasional energetic spurt, but overall she’s got a very good demeanor. She seems very bright and sharp-minded and we do expect her to be a quick study for her new home. She has a happy personality and loves to greet people that come through the Shelter. Mavis will be spayed very soon and is current with all vaccinations. Mavis does a very good job of keeping her kennel clean, but her new home should plan on doing some housetraining work just to be sure. Her adoption fee is $75. We utilize a short adoption application form to assess compatibility between dogs and their prospective homes. This form is a simple one-sided Microsoft Word document and it can be e-mailed to you upon request. If you would like to receive the form via e-mail, or if you have any other questions, please send us an e-mail message.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mavis, a Austin Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Austin, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Austin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Austin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Austin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Austin paves the way for another one to be saved.
