Jefferson's Story...
Jefferson is an orange tabby male kitten born May 2012. Jefferson was found living alone outside. He was very afraid and no one knew where the rest of his family was. He lived with the foster family who found him for a while and then moved to his current foster family.

Jefferson had some issues with playing nicely with his foster brother cats and playing gently with the humans in his life at first. Now he is sweet; loves to snuggle and purr, but still does not enjoy being picked up. He is a burrower and likes to sleep under the bed covers. Jefferson’s favorite toy is anything shaped like a pen. He is interested in all kinds of people food and loves to watch birds out the window. Jefferson would do well in almost any home situations as long as he wasn’t alone all day.

He has tested negative for Feline Leukemia/FIV, is current on all of his shots, and has been neutered.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jefferson, a Merrifield Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Merrifield, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Merrifield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Merrifield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Merrifield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Merrifield paves the way for another one to be saved.
