My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Apollo is a very handsome, docile and sweet, 18-month-old, 100-pound, brindle Cane Corso Mastiff looking for a loving guardian. Apollo is fun and playful; he loves to play ball. He knows the commands “sit,” “down” and “paw” and takes treats gently from your fingers. Apollo was originally purchased as a seven-week-old puppy for $1,700. His purchaser decided that he would start breeding Cane Corso Mastiffs. When he realized it was more work than he was willing to put in, he traded the dog to a drug dealer and looked for another get-rich-quick scheme. Apollo landed in the hands of a dog-loving neighbor who convinced him to sell the dog to her. Because she already has two pit bulls of her own, she tried to find a rescue group or no-kill shelter to take the poor boy in … everyone said they were full and couldn’t help until she turned to Famous Fido’s. Gloria, who runs the rescue group, appreciated the effort the girl had gone to in rescuing Apollo and offered to help. Apollo has now been fully vetted. True to the breed, Apollo forms a close attachment with his primary handler and will need assistance and training to control his strong protective instinct. So, he is looking for an experienced big-dog-lover who can handle a strong large dog who tends towards separation anxiety. He will do best in a home without small dogs, or cats. Apollo is extremely healthy, neutered, de-wormed, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative. To foster or adopt Apollo, please contact Famous Fido Rescue at 773-907-0305.
