Kenya keeps two things on her mind at all times, enjoy life and live each moment to its absolute fullest. She’s a 4 year old German Shorthair/Labrador mix with a free-spirited and friendly personality eager to share her outlook on life with whoever she meets. Kenya greets each new adventure and person life brings her with eager and excited gusto that’s hard to not envy. We imagine it to be like a 24/7 party in her head! In the midst of her excitement she can sometimes forget some of her finer doggie manners like keeping her kennel clean of dinner, water and outside mud as well as walking nicely on a leash but you know from her honest enthusiasm she’s giving it her all. Outside this girl likes to go, go, go and moves like a speeding bullet leaving everything behind in her dust. We’d suggest a fenced in yard and leashed walks only for Kenya since her hearing gets selective and her recall ability goes out the door when she’s after an exciting new scent. Kenya also appears to be quite reactive to smaller creatures including cats so cat buddies may not be in the picture for her without some work. There is no doubt in a stable home with consistent training and patient, loving caretakers this full of life pup will make a fantastic addition that will happily teach her wisdom for living life to its fullest. She is spayed, vaccinated and micro-chipped so call today to make a play date with Kenya. 734 461-9458

FMAR is a non-profit 501(c)3 rescue for dogs and cats that started in April 2003 with the help and support of hundreds of wonderful people. Our mission is to protect animals and residents by promoting a healthy and safe enviornment for all. FMAR felt we needed to start in our own community helping our Animal Control facility find homes for the strays they pick up or are brought to them. On a rare occassion when we have extra space we do our best to help out neighboring communities too. We started in the family room of our home, adding kennels under and on the pool table and moving to the dining and livingroom. We grew by leaps and bounds, so we sold our home, bought a 61/2 acre farm and renovated the smaller of the 2 barns with 9 dog kennels and 5 unique cat kennels. Our first renovation allowed us to house a larger number of cats and dogs, but the need grew faster than our space would allow. We are amazed and saddened every day by the abundance of homeless pets and hoped to raise enough money to renovate our larger barn, but the need became so great we knew we had to find something smaller that we could better afford to renovate. We added on again but the space was still not enough. We found someone to donate another barn and had this barn moved to our property and renovated it as our new "Cat Haven".
Please visit our website at www.fmar1.org for more details on our growth and progress. We promise the best is yet to come!!

FMAR is an no-kill 501 C 3 tax-exempt all breed rescue, and like you, we are concerned about the welfare of the animals and the families that adopt them. We will require paperwork to be filled out and a consultation before an animal is adopted. Interaction with any other animals in your care is also required. We reserve the right to deny any adoption that we feel is not safe or comfortable for either the animal or potential adopter.
Our adoption costs vary, and include first set of vaccinations and spay/neuter. Cats and kittens start at $75 and dogs and puppies range from $100 - $175 depending on age, size and breed. We also offer micro chips at a very reasonable rate. For more information please send us an email at:

FMAR serves Belleville, Sumpter Township, Ypsilanti and surrounding areas.
