Mary's Story...
Mary is a 3year old female Bluetick Coon-hound mix. This lovely lady is not very happy in her kennel, she is timid and watchful doing much better when out for a walk or some exercise. Mary came to the shelter as a stray so nothing is known of her history. She is a pretty girl with big, floppy, soft ears and sad eyes that just melt your heart. Mary does appear to have been house trained, she walks on lead and knows some basic commands. Mary doesn't appear much into toys but gracefully accepts the occasional treat. Mary is going to need a calmer household and will probably bloom into a dedicated best four footed friend with some love & time. A home that's familiar with the breed or has dealt with shy/timid animals would be a good fit. Mary ws tested with cats and was interested, but not focused on them. Mary picks and chooses which other dogs she wants to be friends with, but is not agressive. Mary was interested in cats, but not focused on them. If you have some room in your heart and home we invite you in to meet Mary. If not claimed she'll be available for adoption December 21st after 6pm.

If you want to apply for Mary click here. You can then email the application to the Meridian Humane Society.Applications are now being accepted, and a visitation with the dog is encouraged. All applications will be considered and the adoption coordinator will call the person chosen to adopt the dog after the available date.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mary, a Meridian Bluetick Coonhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Bluetick Coonhound for sale in Meridian, or seeking a Bluetick Coonhound dog from a breeder in Meridian.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Meridian already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Meridian breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Bluetick Coonhound breeders who help with Bluetick Coonhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Meridian paves the way for another one to be saved.
