SANDY's Story...
SANDY is an 8-yr-old Silky Wheaten Terrier surrendered by her frail, elderly owner who is in failing health. Sandy's human will no longer be able to take care of her, and she has been boarded at the veterinary clinic while awaiting adoption to another loving home. Considering her circumstances, Sandy has maintained a positive attitude. She greets people sweetly and doesn't fuss while in the kennel. She doesn't particularly enjoy the company of other dogs (she was an only dog in her former life), but she's coping well. She has not had much exposure to kids but would probably be fine with children ages 6 and up. Sandy is house-trained and leash-trained. She is beyond all the destructive "puppy stuff", so she would make an excellent, ready-made calm companion. She will require regular grooming, given her long, silky coat. Sandy is spayed, fully-vaccinated, heartworm negative and current on monthly flea, tick and heartworm preventives. She's even just had her teeth cleaned. For more information, please contact Janel Miller at dogrefuge@gmail.com. This is a courtesy posting. This dog is not affiliated with P.S. I Love You! Animal Rescue but is fostered by another party.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

SANDY, a Glastonbury Wheaten Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Wheaten Terrier for sale in Glastonbury, or seeking a Wheaten Terrier dog from a breeder in Glastonbury.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Glastonbury already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Glastonbury breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Wheaten Terrier breeders who help with Wheaten Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Glastonbury paves the way for another one to be saved.
