Lamar's Story...
Lamar is a young boy, but he is pretty mellow and smart for his age. Lamar is a 6-12 month old, medium sized, tan with a white strip on his face and a white chest, medium sized, 41 pound, Terrier, Pitbull Mix. He was surrendered to the shelter because his owner claimed having a dog was too much responsibility. The previous family stated Lamar lived with small children. Hanging out with Lamar, he showed that he is a smart boy. He already knows the command sit and he is eager to learn more. He is treat motivated and takes them from you very gently. He walks super well on the leash as well. Lamar likes to sniff and play around with toys but then settles down and just chills. Lamar will make a great companion and family dog. His new family will be one that will dedicate time to train Lamar to be the best that he can be. Please allow Lamar time to adjust to his new environment upon going home with you. Please bring in your whole family to meet this great dog!

About Our Shelter...
The Animal Care & Control Team of Philadelphia (ACCT Philly) is the region’s largest animal care and control service provider. ACCT Philly is an independent, 501c3 nonprofit organization, contracted by the City of Philadelphia to provide animal control services. Our animal control officers provide service over 142.6 square miles to the city’s more than 1.5 million residents and ACCT Philly’s facility in North Philadelphia handles more than 32,000 of the city’s animals, from dogs and cats, to small animals, reptiles, birds and wildlife, annually.

In addition to animal control and sheltering, ACCT Philly is open 365 days a year for pet adoptions. ACCT Philly also supports a foster care program where community members provide temporary homes for sheltered animals and one of the (if not THE) most extensive rescue partnership program in the country where approved rescue partners accept ACCT Philly animals into their adoption programs. Under contract ACCT Philly’s Animal Control Officers provide animal control services and code enforcement. Other exciting ACCT Philly programs include a food pantry for low-income pet owners, a vibrant volunteer program, trap-neuter-return for community cats, a unique Pen Pal program to assist dogs at risk … and so much more!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lamar, a Philadelphia Pit Bull Terrier/Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pit Bull Terrier/Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) for sale in Philadelphia, or seeking a Pit Bull Terrier/Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) puppy from a breeder in Philadelphia.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Philadelphia already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Philadelphia breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pit Bull Terrier/Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) breeders who help with Pit Bull Terrier/Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Philadelphia paves the way for another one to be saved.
