Astrid's Story...
I’m a very petite young lady, in addition to being a very pretty young lady! I fit into my foster home right away, although I get a little jumpy if my foster mom moves really fast! I play with toys and other cats in the house, and I love sitting at the tippy top of the cat tree in the bedroom! I’m very friendly, sweet, and gentle, and I’ll make a great companion for someone. I need to go to a home with at least one kitty, and—because I may be a little skittish--my foster mom thinks I need to go to a home without small children. For more information, including how you can meet me, please call 448-5468, and press 1 for the adoption line.

About Our Rescue Group...
AnimaLovers was founded in 1995 by a small group of friends who wanted to provide needy cats and dogs in the Capital District of New York with a better way to find their way to safety and new lives. As of 2011, AnimaLovers is serving cats, only. AnimaLovers's mission is to:

* To provide housing, veterinary care, and adoption for unwanted, abandoned, injured, or stray cats;
* To educate adopters, as well as the general public, about the health and training needs of our companion animals;
* To promote spaying and neutering as an efficient and humane means of animal population control; and
* To advocate for legislation that will prevent cruelty to animals.

In addition, AnimaLovers has expanded beyond the boundaries of cat and dog rescue and adoption to meet the needs of other animals as well by creating programs to help families keep their companion animals healthy by providing low cost spay/neuter services and emergency veterinary care.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Astrid, a Albany Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Albany, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Albany.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Albany already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Albany breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Albany paves the way for another one to be saved.
