Jet's Story...
Hi my name is Jet. I am a very handsome, super soft all black sweet boy. I hear black cats can be overlooked but once you feel how soft and silky my fur is and hear me purring you’ll be hooked!!
I am still very afraid of people but trying really hard to trust them. l love to play and love to play with other cats, I even purr while I’m playing now! I am trying!! I am not a fan of being picked up but who can blame me, cats are supposed to have their feet on the ground! I still hiss when I’m startled but that’s just because I’m still nervous around people and sometimes I just forget and hiss for the heck of it! I am coming along slowly but surely and it will take a very special patient person to help me come completely out of my shell. I really want to, it’s just going to take some time. Would you help me? Email my mom Cindy at cmm@maine.rr.com.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jet, a Portland Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Portland, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
