Jackie's Story...
Hey there! I'm Jackie and yes, I am a lovely brown dog so you can call me Jackie Brown, if you like. It's a good way to remember my name when you come see me at ACCT! Here's my digits..A18008821 make sure you have them on hand just in case!

Here's my story, I was walking around this beautiful city of Philadelphia all by myself. I didn't know where I was and being lost is not that much fun. I guess I was really lucky to run into a wonderful person who brought me to ACCT so I can start fresh. A sweetheart like me really wants a warm, loving home. I'm about 2 to 3 years old an as far as my friends at the shelter can tell I'm some sort of Lab/Hound/Pit mix. I'm all the good stuff! I like the company of other dogs but if you have a dog already, please bring them to meet me so we know we are a match!

My Pen Pals friends are really great! They take me out to hike with other dogs and it's so nice to get out of the shelter for a while. They say I'm a medium energy dog. I love my outings and walks, I'm probably house trained and the transition to home life will probably be a smooth one. I'm also a very smart cookie. I already know "sit" and walk pretty well on a leash. I am working on "look", "paw" and "down" with my Pen Pal friends. I also love to be pet, what girl doesn't love affection? Some pets and cuddles and I am all yours! Come meet me today!

Jackie is part of the ACCT Pen Pal program. That means that she is paired with a volunteers who are dedicated to helping her learn basic commands, keeping him stress-free while in the shelter and also markets her to potential foster parents and adopters. If you want to know more about Jackie or see if she is a good fit for you, please contact Jackie's Pen Pals at pkottsieper@gmail.com or adoptfosters@gmail.com. They have lots of great things to tell you!

About Our Shelter...
The Animal Care & Control Team of Philadelphia (ACCT Philly) is the region’s largest animal care and control service provider. ACCT Philly is an independent, 501c3 nonprofit organization, contracted by the City of Philadelphia to provide animal control services. Our animal control officers provide service over 142.6 square miles to the city’s more than 1.5 million residents and ACCT Philly’s facility in North Philadelphia handles more than 32,000 of the city’s animals, from dogs and cats, to small animals, reptiles, birds and wildlife, annually.

In addition to animal control and sheltering, ACCT Philly is open 365 days a year for pet adoptions. ACCT Philly also supports a foster care program where community members provide temporary homes for sheltered animals and one of the (if not THE) most extensive rescue partnership program in the country where approved rescue partners accept ACCT Philly animals into their adoption programs. Under contract ACCT Philly’s Animal Control Officers provide animal control services and code enforcement. Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jackie, a Philadelphia Labrador Retriever/Hound (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Hound (Unknown Type) for sale in Philadelphia, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Hound (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Philadelphia.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Philadelphia already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Philadelphia breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Hound (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Hound (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Philadelphia paves the way for another one to be saved.
