Hi! I'm Beatrix! But you can just call me Bea! I'm named after Beatrix Potter because I act kind of like a bunny rabbit! I'm happy and hoppy and playful and sweet!I am a 1-2 year old beautiful auburn Terrier/Pit Mix that was surrendered to the shelter by my previous family. I came in with my best friend and brother, Cleveland, and we play together really well! I'm great with my best friend, but some dogs can scare me and I might do best as an only dog unless I went home with my brother. Let's face it though, I'm gorgeous and you don't need anyone else! I love people and will flip over for a belly rub anytime! I walk really well on the leash and I'm learning how to play fetch too! I love playing tug already, especially with my special tug toy that also has tennis balls on it! Luckily for me, I've got my very own volunteers at the shelter. They taught me how to sit and now we are working on touch, find-it, and look! Look is going to be super duper important for me to know so that when I see a dog I'm scared of I can look at my owner for guidance! I have so much love to give, but I am trying to wait patiently for my forever family to come and get me! Families with dogs or small children should bring them along to meet me to make sure I'm a good match for your family. Please head down to the shelter to meet me today!
The Animal Care & Control Team of Philadelphia (ACCT Philly) is the region’s largest animal care and control service provider. ACCT Philly is an independent, 501c3 nonprofit organization, contracted by the City of Philadelphia to provide animal control services. Our animal control officers provide service over 142.6 square miles to the city’s more than 1.5 million residents and ACCT Philly’s facility in North Philadelphia handles more than 32,000 of the city’s animals, from dogs and cats, to small animals, reptiles, birds and wildlife, annually.
In addition to animal control and sheltering, ACCT Philly is open 365 days a year for pet adoptions. ACCT Philly also supports a foster care program where community members provide temporary homes for sheltered animals and one of the (if not THE) most extensive rescue partnership program in the country where approved rescue partners accept ACCT Philly animals into their adoption programs. Under contract ACCT Philly’s Animal Control Officers provide animal control services and code enforcement. Other exciting ACCT Philly programs include a food pantry for low-income pet owners, a vibrant volunteer program, trap-neuter-return for community cats, a unique Pen Pal program to assist dogs at risk … and so much more!
