Jada's Story...
Hiya, I’m JADA! I’m so happy to meet you! Let me give you a kiss to show you how happy I am that you stopped by! That’s right, the first thing you need to know about me is that I LOVE KISSING! I get so excited to meet people like you. Let me tell you a little bit about me. I’m 3 years old and I weigh about 53 lbs. I lived in a home with kids and adults before, so I’m good with them; and some of the volunteers here think I know to do my bathroom business outside only, too. I have two volunteers called “pen pals” who work with me specially, and they think I’m just a darling, happy little lady.

Here’s what I love: PEOPLE!, going for walks, snuggling, baby talk, toys, but most of all—YOU! That’s right, I love spending time with people. I really want to get to know you, which is why I try to kiss your face all of the time. My pen pals are working with me on calming me down because I don’t want to come across as overwhelmingly friendly. One of my pen pals said that a lower voice and some slow, repetitive stroking on my back does wonders to calm me down. I still love her. She says that this way she can kiss me!

Here’s why I’m a great catch: I’ve lived with kids, I love just about every person I’ve ever met, I’m over that crazy puppy stage but still a young dog, I’m already spayed (so I can go home with you the same day you meet me!) and did I mention that my pen pals think I’m gorgeous? I’m a dazzling “winter white” with brindle patches, including the striking one over one of my eyes. Maybe it’ll help you remember me. Please come meet me in person, and while you are at it, bring the whole family down to make sure we’re the perfect match! Please email my pen pals at mandy.aly.b@gmail.com or tomwgoode@gmail.com with any questions or if you would like to meet me!

About Our Shelter...
The Animal Care & Control Team of Philadelphia (ACCT Philly) is the region’s largest animal care and control service provider. ACCT Philly is an independent, 501c3 nonprofit organization, contracted by the City of Philadelphia to provide animal control services. Our animal control officers provide service over 142.6 square miles to the city’s more than 1.5 million residents and ACCT Philly’s facility in North Philadelphia handles more than 32,000 of the city’s animals, from dogs and cats, to small animals, reptiles, birds and wildlife, annually.

In addition to animal control and sheltering, ACCT Philly is open 365 days a year for pet adoptions. ACCT Philly also supports a foster care program where community members provide temporary homes for sheltered animals and one of the (if not THE) most extensive rescue partnership program in the country where approved rescue partners accept ACCT Philly animals into their adoption programs. Under contract ACCT Philly’s Animal Control Officers provide animal control services and code enforcement. Other exciting ACCT Philly programs include a food pantry for low-income pet owners, a vibrant volunteer program, trap-neuter-return for community cats, a unique Pen Pal program to assist dogs at risk … and so much more!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jada, a Philadelphia Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Philadelphia, or seeking a Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Philadelphia.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Philadelphia already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Philadelphia breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Philadelphia paves the way for another one to be saved.
