My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Zoey is a 11 month old, adorable puppy looking for a forever home. Zoey is a Bearded Collie/Irish Wolfhound cross with the most beautiful inquisitive face. Zoey is tri-coloured and is approximately 63lbs but still has some filling out to do. She will not be as tall as a Wolfhound, she’s more Beadie height, but still she is a large dog. She is great natured dog, a little quirky, she can be totally silly at times, but she is the most content dog.
Zoey is one the most affectionate foster dogs we have had so far. She will kiss you all day, if you let her. She likes to let you know how happy she is just to be near you. She is incredibly gentle and needs to know where you are at all times. She likes to bring you toys, so you will play with her. If Zoey could carry all of her toys in her mouth all at once she would. She loves to play with her toys and is very gentle with them. However, she doesn’t really like the squeakers and makes sure that they are removed immediately, quite entertaining to watch her take the squeakers out. She is quite diligent at removing them.
She doesn’t counter surf, but she knows when food is being prepared and will be very close by just in case something lands on the floor. She will be very happy to clean that up for you.
Zoey is great with kids and easy has been super easy to train. She has learned sit, down, off and shake a paw. She isn’t great with stay yet, but we are working on it. I
f she is outside, she will come when you call her name. Zoey is house trained and crate trained. She is very smart and catches on very quickly to new commands. She also gets along well with other dogs. She can sometimes be a bit exuberant greeting another dog but with training and maturity will learn to greet calmer.
Zoey loves her walks but still needs a little correction. She is best to walk alone, because although good with other dogs, she tends to just want to play. She is a great eater as well; she will eat anything you give her, even ice cubes! She is very food driven and will respond really well to treats. Although she didn’t seem to understand the word “treat” when she first arrived, she now knows when we move toward the “food” cabinet that something good is about to happen.
It has to be said, one of her quirky habits is that Zoey loves people’s feet! She loves to sit on them, smell them, lick them and occasionally mistake them for a toy and she has tried to take them away and play with them. She is quite the character! It is so funny to see her gently take your foot and try to walk away with it.
Zoey’s perfect home would have a large fenced yard for play sessions and a family that will take her for many walks. She is a young and active dog so she needs people willing to play with her and exercise her. We are also looking for a family for Zoey that will take her to training classes to further the work we have put in to her so far and further her obedience training. She is very easy to train and so willing to please that she should do very well in class. She is a young dog still so training will benefit her for life and help mold her into the superb family dog she is destined to be. Zoey will bond very strongly with her family and this bond will be strengthened during training sessions. If you are looking for a gentle, loving and super cute best friend in a big, fluffy, goofy package then Zoey is the dog for you!

An adoption donation of $400 is required. This helps cover our costs for veterinary care including spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, heartworm test, deworming and whatever else the dog may require.
