Sweetie's Story...
Sweetie is a Blue & Gold Macaw. She immediately stepped up for her foster mom and was interested in having her head rubbed. Sweetie has had several owners throughout her life. She was most recently surrendered due to spending most of her time alone. Some phrases Sweetie says are "Hello," "Rock 'n roll," and "Dance."

As you can see Sweetie is a plucker. We are hoping that with more attention and some interactive toys her plucking might subside. We are currently working to transition her off of seed and onto a healthy pellet diet. She loves peanuts, pine nuts, mashed potatoes, and bananas.

Sweetie's approximate hatch date is 1992, and her adoption fee is $300.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sweetie, a St. Louis Macaw was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Macaw for sale in St. Louis, or seeking a Macaw from a breeder in St. Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Macaw breeders who help with Macaw rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St. Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
