Mattie's Story...
Mattie is a very playful and curious girl. She has limited sight but still gets around, goes up and down steps and is learning to use steps to get on the couch. She gets along with other dogs and she is playful. She is a breeder release and she was not cared for well. They let her hair get long and matted, it scratched her eyes, and so she has scar tissue on her eyes. We took her to an eye specialist and he said some will clear up, but right now it is so clouded over he can't see the back of her eye. He put her on some drops 3 times a day and antibotic and will recheck her in 2 weeks. Mattie will be a great pet, and is a lover and a cuddler. She would like another pet to follow around too. Please consider giving a wonderful girl a new leash on life. She has so much love to give...

Mattie weighs 11 lbs, is black and white in color and 4 years young. She is being fostered by Jane and family in Pitts (Mars) PA area. Mattie's adoption fee is $295 and it includes a written veterinary exam, Neuter or Spay and dental. In addition a prepaid Microchip registration. PLUS an annual booster shot, rabies shot and tag, heartworm test and passed, fecal and preventative deworming. IN ADDITION if our vet deems it necessary they will have had a DENTAL, possible extractions and pain and antibotic meds after surgeries. You also receive a trial limited 30 day pet insurance from a third party. In season our rescues have had flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.

We send you home with a copy of all the vet work, dog training booklet, adoption paperwork, and tips. Our Foster families notes explaining our rescue dogs schedule, habits, socialization skills.

WE DO NOT SHIP OUR DOGS YOU MUST DRIVE TO THE FOSTER HOME TO MEET THE DOG AND BOND TO ADOPT. You must fill out our on line application to schedule a meet and great with the foster dog. We cannot hold more than 2 weeks from notifying you approved to complete the adoption or we require a non refundable deposit to hold the dog a short time longer. We do not require a fenced yard on all of our dogs, it is on a as needed basis. HOWEVER if you don't have a fenced yard we do require you to purchase an exercise pen (>$60 on internet) so that the dog can be safe when outside; SMALL DOGS CAN NOT BE TIED OUT.

Not all our dogs are totally house trained at the time of adoption. We crate train them, potty pad train them and use exercise pens for outside and work on potty skills. Dogs learn quickly and are pretty far along. But expect some accidents at lst until they know the routine at your place.

Our dogs are fostered in private homes in OH and MI and PA. We are not a shelter you will need an approved application and an appointment to meet our rescue dogs.

Please visit our website www.ronsrescuedrascals.org to learn more about our adoption procedures and policies, submit an adoption application, meet our volunteers and benefit from the 8+ years of rescue experience of our all-volunteer, non-profit rescue.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mattie, a North Benton Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in North Benton, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in North Benton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in North Benton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a North Benton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in North Benton paves the way for another one to be saved.
