Barkley is a handsome and energetic 6-year-old Labrador Retriever mix. He weighs 57.5 lbs., and is black with a white chest patch and white tips on his paws. Barkley is looking for a home where he will be part of the family and get lots of playtime and walks. He rides well in the car, jumping right in and settling down nicely. He knows the "sit" command, and he likes treats, taking them gently from an open hand. Squeaky toys are fun for Barkley, too.

Barkley takes his time to get to know other dogs--walking together out in front of the other dog a pace or two, is his preferred method of introduction. He is sensitive around loud noises. He walks fine with a sensation-type harness, and would benefit from more practice walking on leash. His energy level and need for practice on the leash makes him more likely to do well with adults who have some dog experience. Barkley is a fun-loving guy who wants to be your BFF for life.
