Rocky's Story...
Hi, my name is Rocky. I’ve had a rocky start in life but for the past month life is good. I was taken away from some people who didn’t treat me very well. Then I was brought to a family who fostered me until I got better. They did a tremendous job, and I loved playing with their dogs. I had something called mange, lost most of my fur and was full of sores. That’s no fun in the winter, losing your coat. Why couldn’t I have lost it in the summer? I’ve got enough fur back now that you can see how gorgeous I will be. I’m an easy guy, 2 years old, love people, get along well with other dogs, and probably would tolerate a cat or two. Once I gain my weight back I’ll top off a little over a hundred pounds. If you decide to adopt me, I can’t be crated nor locked in a room with the doors shut. That gives me flashbacks and I don’t like it. If you let me roam the house, I promise to be a good boy. I’d especially love to go to a home with kids and at least one female dog.

  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Augusta County breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Alaskan Malamute breeders who help with Alaskan Malamute rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Augusta County paves the way for another one to be saved.
