I am one of the happiest little guys that you’re ever going to meet!!
I was found on the streets of Miami and taken to a High Kill Shelter by Animal Control. My owners never found me and my life was spared when Rescue pulled me. I was transported to New York to find my forever home. My Rescue momma can’t say enough about me! She think’s I’m one of the friendliest dog’s she’s had in Rescue!

I love, love, love people!! I do great with other dogs and love to romp and play! I hear that they named me Skippy because I skip when I run! I am easy to please, walk very well on a lead, and I am potty trained. Really, what more could you ask for?

I would love to be part of any family, with or without children, dogs and cats! I just need a home I can call my own, where I can be loved and love back! Hopefully with a fenced in yard, or close to a dog park where I can run free, but be safe in a contained area.

I am UTD on all shots, have been neutered. I am on Heart Worm preventative as well as Flea and Tick preventative, and I do havce a microchip!

Please contact my Rescue at and put my name, “Skippy,” in the subject line if you would like adopt me!

About Orange County Barker's Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Orange County Barker's Rescue is a small non-profit organization made up of a group of volunteer dog lovers who primarily Rescue dogs from very High Kill Shelters in the southern part of the US. Once rescued our dogs are completely vetted and all medical needs are taken care of. They are spay/neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, are tested and treated for heart worm and all parasites. They are given heart worm and flea and tick preventative and are microchipped. They stay in a local foster until transported to us in New York. Once with us, we then get to know the dog and work with the individual needs of each dog. We teach them socialization, with both people and other dogs. We start them on basic training, as well as potty training. We keep our Rescue dogs with us until we feel they are really ready to leave and go on to their new life in their forever homes. We work very hard for our dogs, and love them as if they were our own.

Our Mission Is Simple

Rescue - Rehabilitate - Re-home

We don't discriminate against age, health or breed. We are a non-breed specific Rescue. We Rescue the small and the large, the sick and the aged. We love them all and they are all worthy of a second chance in life.

"We don't know the past chapters of their lives, they are lost and forgotten. From the time we take a dog into Rescue, we vow, that every chapter, until their final one, will only be happy ones." LHKane / Founder -OCBarker's RescueLike Us on Facebook: Orange County Barkers Rescue

Come Meet Our Pets...

Adoption Events will be posted. We do have a small facility and you can make an appointment to come and meet some of our furry friends after an Adoption Application has been approved. Email for an Addoption Application or call (845) 597-4043.

By adopting one of our dogs it gives us the opportunity to save another life!! Please think ADOPT, and don't SHOP!!

Our Adoption Process...

If you see a dog that you think might be a great match for you and your family, we first require that an Application for Adoption be filled out. We do check Vet references as well as personal ones. After you become an approved adopter you will receive either an email or a call from us to let you know. We do require a Home Visit. If you're not local to us, we work closely with other Rescue Groups and trusted volunteers who can do the home visit for us. There is no exception to the rule. Every one must have a home visit done before we place one of our dogs. We have a binding contract that must be signed. Our contract states that in the event you no longer can keep a dog or cat that has been adopted, for whatever the reason, they come back to us. Our contract also states that you are adopting a dog/cat and will keep them as an inside pet, will vet your dog/cat once a year, provide them with a good balanced diet and fresh water.......

All of our pets have been spay/neutered (unless they are too young) are UTD on all vaccinations, are on Heart Worm and Flea and Tick preventative and are microchipped. They are ready for adoption and have a clean bill of heath unless there is an issue with a special needs animal, and in that case you will know everything there is to know about them.

Our fees vary and range from $200 - $350

We are always busy, so please be patient. We WILL answer a call or an Email. Email seems to work better for us, so keep that in mind.
