Ruff Ruff! My name is Zalie

Meet Zalie! Her situation is a sad one and one that is too often encountered in our society on a daily basis. She was an owner surrender, because of lack of time from her family at only 3.5.

We found her a wonderful foster home, who took great care of her and exercised her daily, but Zalie ended up "fear-nipping", and since the family did not have much experience with dogs, they did not find themselves equipped to deal with such a situation. She is now boarded at the vet in a cage in a new and unknown environment until we find a solution for her. We have contacted her former family once more and they can not take her back until we find an appropriate foster again, do not want her back and have no interest in what will happen to her, even suggesting euthanasia. We are a no-kill rescue and have seen many dogs make such progress in the right hands and have so much hope for Zalie that she can one day find out that not everyone is out to "get her".

Zalie is a girl who likes to come to you herself. She can be anxious and show fear until she can fully trust you. She needs someone to take care of her, lead her in an appropriate way, and who has the expertise with such temperaments. On the plus side, she is very disciplined - knows tons of commands, is crate-trained, can be home alone for long periods of time, loves to be active with people, and loves toys and playing fetch!
