Dorothy's Story...
Dorothy got her name because, well, she looks just like Toto from the Wizard of Oz but we simply had to name her something feminine. Dorothy just finished raising a litter of pups that were all adopted out and she was the only one left at the shelter where she was when we pulled her.

Dorothy is beautiful both in looks and in spirit. Loving and sweet, she is around three years old and about twelve pounds - though she may lose some of that weight now that she's done raising her pups. She is spunky and lively when she's playing or "working" alongside you, but when it's time to sit a spell, she's right at your side to snuggle and calms down instantly.

Dorothy gets along great with the other dogs, big and small, at her foster home. She is good on leash and took to a crate immediately. She will make a great dog for a family that wants a dog that is still young and playful but doesn't have the time it would take to raise or train a young pup.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dorothy, a Oakley Scottie, Scottish Terrier/Cairn Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Scottie, Scottish Terrier/Cairn Terrier for sale in Oakley, or seeking a Scottie, Scottish Terrier/Cairn Terrier dog from a breeder in Oakley.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oakley already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oakley breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Scottie, Scottish Terrier/Cairn Terrier breeders who help with Scottie, Scottish Terrier/Cairn Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oakley paves the way for another one to be saved.
