My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Songbird: 2 - 3 yr old female lilac lynx point Ragdoll

Well, there is a story to this lovely girl. She was found a couple weeks ago - remember when it rained so hard? ( It is now 12/23/12).
She was left one night in a duct taped cardboard box at the chain link gate of a Central Valley shelter. In the rain. The sagging box collected water and when she was found the next morning she was completely soaked and standing in water. The box had "piece of shit cat" written on several sides with magic marker. Someone lost their loving cat to someone who clearly did not love cats. Was she stolen?
An ex-girlfriend's? I think the writing was just designed to be offensive. We are lucky this cat was in such good shape and nothing worse happened to her..

This is a super nice cat. Someone loved her and took good care of her. She survived her very cold wet night and is a lovebug still. A shelter volunteer contacted a dog rescuer who found me. Of course I said I would take her. They wanted to get her out of the shelter because it is not a safe place for even such a nice cat. It has a high kill rate . i won't say what it is but it is over 90% so you get the idea. This is not unusual for Central Valley shelters though it shocked me. Since I was going to go get her I made plans to take 5 more cats from that shelter and you will see them on the Maine Coon, Kitten and Other Breeds pages shortly. It was very willful and stubborn of me ( and I enjoyed that ) to take 6 new cats given my lack of space and time during the holidays. We made it work and now that I know these new treasures I am so pleased to have them safe with me. They are ALL wonderful.

So I named this lilac point girl Songbird because when you pet her she trills and chirps and squeaks and murmurs to you. She loves attention. She didn't eat the first three days we had her but she finally ate last night so she is settling in and getting comfortable in her foster home. She doesn't seem to like other cats and at this point we are thinking she would do best as an only cat. She could probably companion a gentle ,quiet, maybe older kitty.I don''t k now about dogs. She is friendly to strangers and seems quite confident.
She may be ok with respectful children.

She is beautiful and healthy, a good weight, and her coat is in good shape. She has been combo tested negative and has had her FVRCP vaccination and will have a second one if I have her the required three weeks. apart She is on flea meds and will be wormed shortly.
She came to the shelter previously spayed.

She eats dry food and ignores wet food and is litterbox perfect.

More photos soon.

Her foster mom is Harriet in Santa Cruz.
