Breed: Cockatoo Color: White Age: Unknown
Sex: Male
Data's Story...
Data is an umbrella cockatoo believed to be about 10 years old. Data has had many homes. We have listed Data as appropriate for a home without children because he is both very cuddly and prone to bite. It can be very startling when he goes from snuggling into your chest to nipping at you and he does not avoid the face. He has not done anything more than nip so he clearly is not attempting to hurt the person holding him. Adopter needs to have large cockatoo experience and not be easily intimidated.

Data's last home tried very hard to make the adoption work but ultimately had to give him up because he is very loud and demands attention when he knows people are in the house. He is not a good pet for someone living in an apartment.

Data is easily startled by other birds flying. He also will not stay put on a cage. He damages his feathers a bit but it is mostly unnoticeable. He would be OK in a bird room with other birds as long as they don't fly around a lot. He says "Hi Data" fairly frequently.

Data could made someone a wonderful best friend. He has a lot of promise and probably just needs some stability in his life

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Data, a Latham Cockatoo was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cockatoo for sale in Latham, or seeking a Cockatoo from a breeder in Latham.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Latham already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Latham breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cockatoo breeders who help with Cockatoo rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Latham paves the way for another one to be saved.
