Fiona's Story...
Hello, my name is Fiona (Fee-o-nah). My sister Kirra and I came to Valley Dogs when our mom lost her home and could not keep us. Kirra and I have been together since mom adopted us from Maricopa County Animal Care and Control in May of 2005. Since I am voiceless, I depend on Kirra to get my needs known. We would love to find a home together if possible, since we have been together most of our lives.

Mom says I am sensitive, very intelligent, easily taught, quick-to-learn, well behaved and well mannered. Our new foster mom agrees, as well as many of the people who have met us at adoption events.

Currently we are in a foster home with many other dogs of various sizes. It’s a little much to get used to after having just one sister, but I get along well with all the other dogs. I am crate trained and doggie door trained. I can be a little fearful of things and situations I am not sure of, but once I know I am okay and won’t be hurt, I warm up quickly and am quite the little character and snuggle bug.

Although I was not in a home with children, I seem to do okay with them, although children over 7 may be best because of my smaller size and fear of things I’m not sure of.

I am completely de-barked. I have no voice at all, so I cannot audibly alert you if I am in trouble or if something is hurting me. Kirra has been my voice for the last several years letting our mom know when I needed something or if I was in trouble. My foster mom is working with me to learn to ring bells hanging off the door knob when I need to go outside. This is new to me, but I am trying to learn what she wants me to do so I am better able to make my needs known.

I am a wonderful little dog and will be a great addition to the lucky family who adopts me (and hopefully Kirra as well). If you would like to meet me, please contact my foster mom at crystallarnold@msn.com.

Wouldn’t you like to meet me? If so, please complete an adoption interest form and email crystallarnold@msn.com

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Fiona, a Gilbert Smooth Fox Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Smooth Fox Terrier for sale in Gilbert, or seeking a Smooth Fox Terrier dog from a breeder in Gilbert.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Gilbert already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Gilbert breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Smooth Fox Terrier breeders who help with Smooth Fox Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Gilbert paves the way for another one to be saved.
