- ADOPTION PENDING -
Scout is a gorgeous male German Shepherd, approximately one year old and currently weighing a lean 85 lbs. He’s a tall boy!
Confident and curious in new situations, we could not think of a better-suited name for him. Easy going and playful, it took him about 30 seconds of recovery time (after his previous humans dropped him off) to engage in toy and food games.
It is very difficult to imagine he had such a rough start in life (he was found in Scio, Ohio by the dog warden and was so malnourished he was unable to walk), his stable temperament is a testimony to great genetics.
He has very good ball drive, good retrieve, and enjoys a good session of give-and-take tug.
Very social with people he has met so far, he would tackle a willing person to the ground – with kisses. He does, however, pay close attention to strangers passing by the training yard. Calm, yet alert.
While easily excitable towards other dogs while on leash, he is generally friendly but can be pushy and easily intimidate smaller dogs if allowed to interact freely. He is also highly prey-driven and has not yet learned to redirect well from prey to play, therefore at this point we do not recommend a house with cats or other small animals.
Scout has a good foundation in the Michael Ellis marker system, knows "Sit," "Down," "Stay," "Watch Me," "Out" (releasing a toy), and "Leave It," and is currently going through advanced obedience with us, learning to control his enthusiasm while "in drive" and in different social settings.
Based on conformation and drives he is likely from European working lines and would do best in a home with structure and a “job." His outstanding, stable and social temperament would shine in protection sports and/or detection work.
He is crate trained as well as house-trained and goes outside “on cue,” up to date on his vaccines, neutered and microchipped. His adoption fee is $400 and includes a free training session with High Drive Pups (Cleveland, Ohio).

Rescue Group Info...
We work very closely with local Rescue Organizations, including Tracking Lucky Dogs Rescue and Lake Erie German Shepherd Rescue. Occasionally, these Rescues come across dogs that have a difficult times being placed in regular home environments (with young kids, other animals) for various reasons – including high levels of energy and high prey drive, coupled with lack of previous training.
That is where we step in. After a preliminary temperament screening, the dogs are taken through a structured play-and-train program. They go through basic or advanced obedience (depending on the dog’s maturity and previous exposure to training), with emphasis on off-leash recall and off-leash stationary positions (down-stay, sit-stay).
Our goal is to help them find the best possible path in life, to fulfill their potential and become the superstars they were meant to be.
Call or email to schedule a meet-and-greet with one of our dogs. All adoption events are held on site at our training center.
Our adoption fees vary from dog to dog.
All our dogs are obedience-trained, house-trained, up to date on vaccines and altered.
You must have previous experience with the particular breed listed. These dogs are exceptional young adults (stable, social, confident) with strong working drives, and they need a structured home environment. They would excel in homes with active lifestyles or involved in dog sports.
References will be checked and a home visit will be required. An adoption contract will be signed after application approval.
Adopters are strongly encouraged to continue the training of their new family member. Our adoption fees include two free training sessions with High Drive Pups (http://highdrivepups.com).
We are located in Cleveland, Ohio.
We prefer to adopt to homes in Northeast Ohio, but we are flexible with respect to location. Our main priority is to find the best possible match for these great dogs.
