Bones's Story...
My name is Bones. It's my new name because the kind human that rescued me from the streets saw how skinny I was. I hadn't eaten in several days. That very kind human took pity on me when I followed her down the street and she took me to a veterinary hospital. I love my vet because she also treats me with kindness. She could tell I had a very rough life, even though I am only a pup (1 year old - 12/2012).She thinks I was beaten and used as bait in dog fights, although I never did anything wrong to people and the only thing I wanted to do was love someone til I died.

At the hospital they found a few things wrong with me, but now I am getting much better. I was de-wormed, given all my vaccinations and boosters, cleaned up and fed. I will be neutered when my health improves. I am still at the hospital, recuperating. In a few weeks I will be as good as new, my vet says. I am still sort of scared and timid, but the people here all say I am very loving because I cuddle my head in your chest and hands and always like to be around people.

I can play with other dogs, like this Labrador I know at the clinic. He's my friend. But right now, what hurts the most, is my soul. I have no where to go. When I get out of the clinic, I will be placed in a shelter, because I have no home. The problem is that this shelter will only keep me for 20 days because getting rid of me to make space for more homeless dogs. So the people that are helping me are desperate to find me a home. Their hearts break every time they think about me not having a home or a way out. My time it limited. I was rescued in Texas, but my rescuer is willing to have me transported to Tuscon, Arizona if there is a home there for me.

If you can give me a new home, are willing to foster me, or if you are a rescue that helps out pups in need like myself, please call 713-825-0642 or email rubinadriana@yahoo.com

About Our Rescue Group...
We rescue in a low income area of Houston called the 5th Ward. We founded Forgotten Dogs of the 5th Ward Project about a year ago to address what we saw as an obvious need to help the many stray dogs we were seeing in there. We set up feeding stations and network and pull as many as we can when a foster home or no-kill rescue group says they can take them in. One of our goals is education and we provide residents with vouchers that cover the complete cost of having their animals altered and vaccinated against rabies. In addition, we provide other vaccinations and worming in the field free of charge. Since November 2011 we have grown in size and have rescued over 250 dogs and a few cats from the area. We are launching a program called Habitat for Hounds through which we will donate doghouses and blankets to residents for their dogs that are kept outside. Our website is forgottendogs.org and we are a 501c3.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Bones, a Porter Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Porter, or seeking a Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Porter.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Porter already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Porter breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Porter paves the way for another one to be saved.
