Jogging & Biking Buddy
Lizzie just loves to play and exercise. This 2 ½ year old beauty is looking for a jogging, walking, running, biking or hiking buddy. Lizzie is a smart pooch who retrieves, plays ball and fetches sticks. She carries an 8 pound backpack easily and could carry your water and hers on an adventure! Lizzie learns VERY quickly. She would do really well with agility or any job you'd give her. Lizzie would be happy being the only dog with no other pets. This 45-pound lab/hound mix is house-trained, house-broken and knows how to use a doggie door. She also knows how to ask to go outside if you don't have a doggie door. Playful Lizzie knows some commands like sit and shake hands. She's sweet and affectionate. Lizzie is micro-chipped, spayed and has up-to-date shots. Lizzie would love to be your best buddy. Please contact her foster mom at sulana@Q.com or 602.992.1538.

Rescue Group Info...
AZ Prussian Snailhound Dog Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit organization that is committed to providing rescue and safe-haven for dogs in need. Most of the dogs we rescue are of mixed breeds. When we are out with our dogs and people ask, "What kind of dog is that?", my husband replies by saying, "It is a rare Prussian Snailhound. They are popular in Europe." Each Prussian Snailhound is unique and deserves a loving home! Please open your heart and your home to a rescue dog!
Our major focus is the rescue of stray dogs from the Ft. McDowell Indian Reservation. Since July 2009 we have worked with other groups to rescue over 300 dogs and puppies. These are amazingly sweet dogs that have had to live off of the land and brave extreme heat, cold, rain, drought, coyotes, rattlesnakes, hunger, traffic and people who try to harm them. They deserve to have a proper home. This started out as a mission to save about 30 dogs who hung out behind the casino, as the casino managers saw them as a nuisance and were threatening to poison or shoot the dogs. We ended up saving way more dogs as we became aware that the problem extended far beyond the casino. Some of the adult dogs are extremely fearful of humans at first and require extensive rehabilitation in order to learn how to trust and become a member of the family. Once they realize how good home life is, they will be your best friend for life!
In addition to the rescue and rehabilitation of dogs from the Ft. McDowell Indian Reservation, it is our goal to work closely with the tribe to educate people who live on the Reservation about spay/neuter and to facilitate a low cost spay/neuter program. So far in 2011, 148 pets have been spayed/neutered on the Reservation!
Pets are in foster homes, so meetings are set by appointment only.
All interested parties need to request and fill out an adoption application. Application fees vary depending on age, temperament and health of the dog. Typically puppies are $200-275 and adults are $100-175.
